Numerology compatibility works by comparing two Life Path numbers. Not names, not star signs, not how long you have been together — just the two core numbers each of you was born carrying, and what happens in the space between them. It is a surprisingly honest way to look at a relationship, because the Life Path describes how a person is fundamentally built rather than how she behaves on a good day.

To do it by hand, you calculate each person's Life Path separately, then read the pair. Reduce the birth month, the birth day and the birth year on their own, add the three results together, and reduce once more — remembering that 11, 22 and 33 are master numbers and stop wherever they land.

Take a couple. She was born on the twelfth of May, nineteen ninety. May is 5. The day, 12, gives 1+2 = 3. The year, 1990, gives 1+9+9+0 = 19, then 1+9 = 10, then 1+0 = 1. So 5 + 3 + 1 = 9. She is a Life Path 9. He was born on the third of August, nineteen eighty-eight. August is 8. The day is already a single digit, 3. The year gives 1+9+8+8 = 26, then 2+6 = 8. So 8 + 3 + 8 = 19, then 1+9 = 10, and 1+0 = 1. He is a Life Path 1.

Now you have a 9 and a 1 — the end of the cycle meeting the beginning of it. That pairing tends to be magnetic and genuinely challenging. The 1 is built to start things, to move first, to think in terms of what he wants next. The 9 is built to complete things, to think in terms of everyone, to release rather than acquire.
