Three sources feed the set. The first is your Life Path number, the core of your chart and the strongest single number you carry. The third, when you enter a name, is your Destiny number, taken from every letter of your full birth name and describing what you are here to build.

Here is the whole thing worked by hand. Take a woman born on the twelfth of May, nineteen ninety, named CELESTE MORGAN.

Start with the Life Path. May is the fifth month, already a single digit, so 5. The day is 12, and 1+2 = 3. The year 1990 gives 1+9+9+0 = 19, then 1+9 = 10, then 1+0 = 1. Add them: 5 + 3 + 1 = 9. Her Life Path is 9.

Next the birth day on its own. Twelve reduces to 1+2 = 3. That is her gift number — the three brings expression, communication and creative charm, sitting inside the wider nine.

Now the Destiny. Using the Pythagorean table, where A through I are 1 to 9, J through R are 1 to 9 again, and S through Z are 1 to 8, the letters of CELESTE come to 3+5+3+5+1+2+5 = 24, and MORGAN comes to 4+6+9+7+1+5 = 32.
